The theme for the 2025 voluntary work activities is continuity. Our aim is to encourage residents to continue the principles of the Vibrant Espoo action plan on their own properties, summer cottages, and other local environments.
This year, the main focus of the voluntary work is on meadows.
Meadows are significant both for the preservation of traditional landscapes and for biodiversity. They provide a habitat for many plants, insects, and birds, as well as food for pollinators, many of which are endangered. The goal of the 2025 voluntary work is both to establish new meadow areas and to control invasive species such as lupine and Himalayan balsam.
During the early part of the year, the Vibrant Espoo experts will select meadow areas near Espoo's urban centers as voluntary work sites to make participation as easy as possible. In addition, residents are encouraged to propose their own actions for the benefit of local nature and the urban environment.
By participating in the 2025 voluntary work, everyone can promote biodiversity and create vibrant meadow landscapes that will enrich the environment far into the future. The easiest way to participate in the voluntary work is to subscribe to the Vibrant Espoo email list. You will receive more detailed information about the timing and locations of the voluntary work through our list.
Voluntary work events will be organized at least in June, August, and September 2025.
